One senior officer who jumped to the help of a partner that got attacked by a knifeman was granted the Monarch's Honor for Valor.
Sgt Tim Ansell grappled with 27-yr-old Jacob Brown following he held a knife to the throat of his fellow officer Sgt Marc Foster.
Brown initiated the assault as the policemen and their partner, Police Constable Marcus Wolstencroft, were talking to a motorist following a traffic accident in the area in summer 2023.
Brown attacked with blade both Sergeant Ansell and Sgt Foster before PC Wolstencroft stunned him with a Taser.
"Policeman stabbed," the constable stated over his communication device.
Bodyworn and vehicle camera footage released by the police department revealed Brown, that was clothed in black with a hood covering head, run up to Sgt Foster from the rear with a blade pointed forward.
He struck the policeman who tripped and dropped to the pavement, before Sergeant Ansell intervened and attempted to subdue him to the floor despite being repeatedly struck with the weapon.
Police Constable Wolstencroft drew his Taser and awaited a clear shot, bringing the confrontation to an finish.
Sergeant Ansell can be heard to say: "Can I get something on my neck now, I got knifed in the neck."
Sgt Ansell suffered multiple open wounds to his throat and more wounds to his arms and body, whereas Sgt Foster experienced knife wounds.
Authorities reported Sergeant Foster used his bare hands to stem his fellow officer's bleeding prior to emergency responders arrived.
This most recent recognition follows after the law enforcement team were granted organizational Courage Honors in late 2023 and the prestigious bravery honor from the local Police Federation in April 2024.
They additionally received a Area Bravery Award in summer 2024.
"The responses of each policeman in the end saved one another and meant no members of the public endured any injuries."
Brown was given to an indefinite hospital order in early 2024, as stated by authorities.
